Who is JEHOVAH and who are His Witnesses?

**His Witnesses:**

“You are my witnesses, says Jehovah, that I am God.” – Isaiah 43:1

**This name is determined by God:** “Then the nations will see your salvation and all kings, your glory, and they will put a new name on you, which the mouth of the Lord will determine.” – Isaiah 62:2

**Jehovah has called witnesses** since Abel, the first faithful man on Earth, those who chose to follow Him and testified about Him. In Hebrews 11, many faithful people are listed, and then in Hebrews 12:1, they are referred to as “a great cloud of witnesses.”

**The Lord Jesus Christ was a witness:** “And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, the ruler of the kings of the earth!” – Revelation 1:5, and His disciples: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

**The people must bear His Name:** “God has looked down upon the nations to choose from among them a people who will bear His Name.” – Acts 15:14

**Today, we are urged to walk in their footsteps:** “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 11:1

Therefore, the name “Witnesses of Jehovah” is not a designation of a religion or sect, but reflects a person's choice to dedicate their life to Jehovah and His great purpose, to accept the sacrifice and path shown by Jesus, and to testify to these truths before people, calling them to repentance.

Iehova is:

The name of the Almighty God: “I am Iehova, this is My name.” – Isaiah 42:8

The only true God: “For I am God, and there is none other, I am Iehova, and there is none like Me.” – Isaiah 46:9.

The Creator of the entire universe: “For thus says the Lord, the Maker of the heavens, the only God, who formed the earth, made it and established it, who did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited: ‘I am the Lord, and there is none other!’” – Isaiah 45:18.

Without beginning or end: “The only one who has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see and who has honor and eternal power! Amen.” – 1 Timothy 6:16.

Eternal: “Before the mountains were born and before you formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God!” – Psalms 90:2.

In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus urges us to hallow His name: “Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name;” – Matthew 6:9.

Jesus, when He was on Earth, says in John 17:6: “I have made Your name known to the men whom You gave Me out of the world. Yours they were, and You gave them to Me; and they have kept Your word.”

His people know the name: “‘Because he loves Me,’ says the Lord, ‘therefore I will deliver him; I will protect him, for he knows My name.’” – Psalms 91:14.
